Lean Not on Your Own Understanding

Prov 3:5Trust in the LORD with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding;

6in all your ways acknowledge him,

and he will make your paths straight.a

Things are getting crazy on planet earth. Everything in creation appears to be hanging on to normalcy by a slender thread. What is going on in the world? Read your bibles, that's what is going on. This world is headed toward absolute fulfillment of every Word that has been written by the Lord our God. What He said in the past will be done in the future.

Things are speeding up, events are taking place at a blinding speed. Each day that goes by I lose count of how many events are pointing directly toward the time of Jacob's trouble. What does that mean for us. It means this:

Luke 21:28

... So when all these things begin to happen, stand and
look up, for your salvation is near!

This is the guidance the Lord has given me today in the midst of this world spinning out of control:

Prov 3:5Trust in the LORD with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding

The Lord told you "what" He was going to do. You don't have to figure out "how" He is going to do it. You can try to figure out all the "hows" that are leading up to the "whats" but in the end you will get overwhelmed. What is coming on this earth is a perfect storm. The "what" is coming from so many different directions, so quickly that no man on this earth will be able to figure it all out. Thus, the Lord's guidance "lean not on your own understanding." Just trust Him.

Some people may feel that they need to figure out the "how" all these things are coming on the earth so they can prove some of it to the masses of humanity. That is an exercise in futility. Those who are watching will continue to watch, those who are not watching will continue to dig deeper and deeper holes with which to bury their heads in denial.

More guidance from the Lord, minimize your look at the world around you and maximize your attention on Him and His Word. There is an awesome destruction coming to this world. It is so awesome that you can become fixated on it watching it approach. Stop looking at it and start focusing on the promises. The Lord told us these things long ago:

Luke 17:26And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. 27They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. 28Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 29But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.30Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. 31In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. 32Remember Lot's wife.33Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. 34I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. 35Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 36Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 37And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

In Noah's day, a few escaped and everyone else was destroyed. Out of the world, one family escaped....one. All those name it and claim it, and grace only ticket to heaven sin all you want it wont matter preachers are in for a big surprise soon. One family was saved in Noah's day. Same with Lot, one family walked out of Sodom...one. Does that qualify as a "few." I'd say it does. Should that be a wake up call to us all? Yes, indeed it should. Few will be saved. Some people like to dismiss this idea by coming up with all kinds of cute rationalizations for what "few" means so that few ends up meaning them and all the "good" people they know. We don't have to go through those exercises because the Lord already demonstrated what "few" means. Noah and Lot with their families were spared out of a whole world, and an entire city. That's what few means.

Matt 7:13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

"Few" there be that find the gate that leads to life. Not because the Lord wants it that way, but because men choose that way. None of this should put you into fear. If you fear when you read these things then your love has not yet been made perfect:

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to
do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love

This writer is not judging you here, I do not even judge myself. There is a judge and He is not me or you. He is a righteous judge. This writer writes these things in the "fear of the Lord" while he "works out his salvation" with fear and trembling:

Phil 2:12Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling

What did the Lord tell us here? Work out your salvation...I didn't say that, Jesus did. How are we to work out our salvation? With fear and trembling. Everything about that statement goes against the grain of today's so called Christianity. People want to be told pleasant things that tickle their ears. They want to hear that they have a free license to sin (OSAS-once saved always saved) and they want to get into the kingdom of heaven as well! That's not how the bible reads to this writer.

We enter "in Christ" by grace through faith, none of us disagree there. Where we do disagree is how we remain "in Christ." Read John 15 over and over again until it sinks in. Its not enough to enter "in Christ," we must also remain "in Him." Again, not my words, His Word. Branches in the vine can and will be "cutoff." If you are a "branch" of the "vine" that is "cutoff" then you are no longer "in the vine" and we know that the vine is Jesus Christ.

How can your love be made perfect so you do not fear? Spend more time with the Lord. Give Him your attention early and often. Why should you fear the Lords judgement and wrath when you are at peace being in His presence day in and day out? If you spend time in His presence, He will tell you what to hold on to and what to get rid of. When we approach our God, the first thing He does is point to any sin in our life. Getting rid of things that displease the Lord is always the first issue when we approach this holy God.
Once we get past the issues that displease our God, we are to trust Him and rest....

Isaiah 30:15 This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.

This writer believes that the Word of the Lord is true, down to the letter. The Word tells us that an escape from all is coming:

Luke 21:34And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, andso that day come upon you unawares. 35For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Escape from all? Thats what He said. Did Noah "escape all?" Yes, he did. Did Lot "escape all?" Yes, he did. Will we "escape all?" Yes, we will if we are found worthy of it. Noah and Lot were found "righteous" in their generation. We must be found as "righteous" in our generation. Few were saved in Noahs day. Few were saved in Lots day. Few will be saved in our day. There are a growing number of people who claim to be Christians today who tell us more or less that we will not "escape all." They have no revelation from the Lord that this esape from all is coming. Does that make sense in light of what we know of Noah and Lot? Yep, it sure does. Did the "many" get a revelation in Noahs day that the flood would come and destroy them all? Nope, only the few that were found worthy had the revelation of it. Did the "many" in Lots day get a revelation that it was time to get out of Sodom? Nope, it was revealed to a few people (Lot and his family).

As it was in the days of Noah and Lot, so shall it be in our day. The growing chorus telling us that there is no "escape from all" have no revelation that there will be an escape from all. Just like the many in Noah and Lot's day. How bold these people are to deny the Lord's own Word on this issue. Jesus tells us there is an escape and we should pray for it. Todays scoffers tell us that Jesus lied to us. According to them the escape from all that Jesus tells us 1. exists and 2. we should pray for, well it does not exist? I have a problem with that. That is a huge problem. They will see the error of their ways, but likely they will see it too late.

The coming time of trouble is known as the time of "Jacob's trouble." Where in the bible can you find the church addressed as "Jacob." Nowhere. The church is addressed directly in Rev 2-3 then not addressed directly anywhere else in the book of Revelation until the very end. If the "elect" was the church, why didn't the Lord drop that word somewhere in Rev 2-3 where the church was being directly addressed? How did redeemed and rewarded men from every tongue, tribe, nation on earth get into heaven in Rev 5? Why are these redeemed rewarded men sitting on thrones? Do angels get to sit on thrones in heaven? Nowhere in the bible will you ever see that. What you will see is the church sitting on thrones:

rev 3: 21To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Luke 22:30

so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit
on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

The evidence that the "prewrath" and "post trib" teachers are wrong is overwhelming. Ultimately, they have no "revelation" of the book of Revelation so they rely on the pet theories and doctrines of men to try to understand a book that can only be understood through the revelation of the Spirit of God and faith.

This world is in for it. Mankind will be wiped clean from the face of the earth except for a few...as always:

Isaiah 13:12 I will make man scarcer than pure gold, more rare than the gold of Ophir.

and

Matthew 24:22

... And if those days were not shortened, no flesh would have been saved

What has been will be again:

Ecclesiastes 1:9

What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing
new under the sun

What happened in the days of Noah and Lot will happen again. The escape and the judgement.
Since we know that an escape has been prepared for us, and we see this world spiraling out of control, shouldn't we do what we were told to do and pray for this escape? Where in the bible are we ever told that the faithful and obedient would reap judgement and wrath? Nowhere.

2 Peter 2:9

if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold
the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishmen

Rescue godly men from trials? Wow, that sounds familiar....

rev 3:10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth.

Tilt your head back and look up, our redemption draws close. Withdraw your focus from this world and the problems it is having. We are not of this world and we never were. This world and those who belong to it (most people) will look after the tribulations of the world. Our focus must be on the kingdom that is to come and our Fathers will that must be done.

grace and peace
