1 Cor 14.1Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. 2For anyone who speaks in a tonguea does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. 3But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort. 4Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. 5I would like every one of you to speak in tongues,b but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues,c unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.
Let us begin to pray daily to receive all of the gifts, but especially prophecy. One who prophecies is a prophet, we need some prophets after the Lord's own heart. I pray that the Lord will give me this gift so the church may be edified. I pray the Lord will give you this gift so the church may be edified. Why are prophets needed right now, today?
But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.
If ever there was a time when those in Christ needed strengthening, encouraging and comfort it would be today.
I am guilty of not pestering the Lord for these gifts daily. The gifts are there and our Lord told us to ask for them so He can give them to us. Some people tell us prophets do not exist today and looking at the spiritual landscape I would tend to agree as long as we do not count false prophets. Let us begin to ask the Lord continually until we receive for these gifts, especially prophecy.
The darkness grows every day, but we are salt and light in this world
Matt 5:13You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost its savor, how shall it be salted? it is thereafter good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
15Neither do men light a lamp, and put it under a bushel, but on a lamp stand; and it gives light unto all that are in the house.
16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Our Lord will be glorified. I pray that with the gifts He gives to us He will receive even more glory which He so richly deserves. We were created for this purpose, to bring glory to His Name.
Isa 43.7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made."
Salt preserves by preventing rot, and light drives out darkness. Let us lay hold of our Lord through prayer and receive these gifts so we preserve and drive out darkness for His glory while we live on the face of this earth.
please add this request to your prayers, pray that all those in Christ may receive every Spiritual gift He is willing to give us for the edification of the Body.
