Where Are the Prophets?

1 Corinthians 14:31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that

... But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an ungifted man enters,he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all ...

1 Corinthians 14:39 Therefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to ...
... Therefore, my brothers, desire the ability to prophesy, and donot prevent others from speaking in other languages. ...

Do you see the language in there? EVERYONE can prophesy? ALL prophesy? DESIRE the ability to prophesy? Looks to me like the Lord thinks its pretty important.

1 Cor 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and severally members thereof. 28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, divers kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 30 have all gifts of healings? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 31 But desire earnestly the greater gifts. And moreover a most excellent way show I unto you.

Look at all the functions mentioned here, and not one of the functions mentioned is 'pastor', don't you find that curious?

We do NOT see pastor mentioned, however we DO see PROPHET mentioned....again. So WHERE ARE THEY? The scripture I quote above indicates that ALL can prophesy, or should be able to, and yet all we hear is deafening silence except from the false prophets that abound.

I have been praying for the gift of prophesy because the bible lays out a very straightforward case for prophets being a key/important part of the church, and WE DON"T HAVE ANY. If there was any time when we needed to hear "thus sayith the Lord" it would be today. Yes, we have the bible, and the bible is the word of God, and that same word of God tells us we should have PROPHETS. The Lord thinks they are important, therefore, I think they are important.

If we had as many prophets running around as we do 'pastors' maybe we would'nt be in this mess to begin with.

I encourage you to do what the Lord has instructed, which is: desire the ability to prophesy, pray for it. I've already said over and over again that I am the LEAST of the brothers, the servants of the Most High God, so that's my excuse, although I am working on it, what's everyone else's excuse? What's the deal with all these men who claim the 'man of God' title, and yet have not uttered a single accurate prophesy?

There are many things wrong with the church today. Rev 2-3 outlines the problems with the church. Specifically the Lord mentions that the church that will 'be kept' from the hour of temptation will be a WEAK CHURCH. Why are they weak? Pastors EVERYWHERE, NO PROPHETS, and true believers are scattered. Don't take my word for it, use your own eyes.
