Will Versus Feelings

It has been written here many times that our feelings are traitors.  We do not enter the kingdom of heaven through feelings.  Can anyone show me where in the Bible it says we "feel" our way into heaven?  No, because it is not there.  How do we enter the kingdom?  How do we walk in the kingdom?  We exercise our will, we make decisions, we decide.  What does de-cide mean?  It means to cut off from any other possibility.

An example from the Word:

Psalm 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Do you see the words "will" twice in one sentence up there?  Yea, not feel but WILL.  An act of your will and the Lord emphasizes it twice in one sentence.  This has nothing to do with feeling and everything to do with a person making a decision, an act of the will.

^^This person has told himself as an act of his will he will trust the Lord.  This person has told himself he is going to take refuge in the Lord.

Why do so many Christians walk around defeated?  They feel one way today and they feel another way tomorrow and they eventually feel their way right into defeat and misery.  We have been given our free will for a reason, to use it.  Decisions trump feelings all day every day.

On the day we stand before the Lord will we be judged on what we felt or what we decided?  Obviously what we decided.  How do we trust the Lord?  We make a decision.  How to we accept the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior?  We make a decision.  When problems arise in our life how do we deal with them?  We make decisions.  We exercise our will.

How do we go from little faith to faith that moves mountains?  We make a thousands decisions to trust the Lord through thick and thin, through each problem challenge and crises we decide to trust the Lord and each time our faith is built a little more.

This post has been written to encourage you to throw your feelings out the window and exercise your will to do what the Lord has instructed us to do.  Make a decision to trust.  Make a decision to have faith.  Make a decision not to doubt.  When the next crisis erupts and it feels like someone just punched you in the gut as hard as they can remember your decision trumps your feelings.  You can feel like you have been punched in the gut, but at the same time you can decide to trust the Lord.

We get to decide.  We get to choose.  What we decide makes all the difference.

Isaiah 11:3
and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.
He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes,
or decide by what he hears with his ears;
4but with righteousness he will judge the needy,
with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth.

Will, will, decide.  Will, will, decision.

Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
