Time Is On Our Side

Although time is short (the Lord could come back for His Church at any moment), time is on our side.  How so?  Every moment that slips by into the history books while we are in Christ, puts us one moment closer to our Fathers Kingdom and paradise.  For those who are not in Christ, every moment that slips by is one less moment for them to take whatever it is they think they can find from this earth.  For them its a race against time, for us its casual stroll with time.

For this reason, we are told over and over again to be patient, to stand, to wait.

Luke 21:19In your patience possess ye your souls.

Rev 3:10Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Why write this?  1.  The Lord God has impressed this idea on this writers heart multiple times over recent days and 2.  Maybe the Lord impressed it because this writer (with some alarm) has noticed how fast time is flying by.  It was just new year 2017 and it will be May 2017 one week from this posting.  I am getting older, my kids are getting older, time is flying by.  Instead of being alarmed the Lord says to rest and be at peace.  For us who believe time is our friend.  For those who do not believe it is their mortal enemy.

Heb 4:3 Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, "So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.'" And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world.

Isa 30:15 This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.

Every moment that goes by is one moment closer to us being face to face with the Almighty.  One way or another we will all stand face to face with Him, bend our knees and confess that He is Lord to the glory of God our Father.  For this reason we must always be watching and ready.  He told us He will come back unexpectedly but we could also not be alive tomorrow-nobody guaranteed us we will see tomorrow.

This post is written as an encouragement to you as it encouraged me.  The things of this world are quickly slipping away.  For those of us who are straining toward eternal life that is good news.  The rapid passing of time brings us closer to our Father's kingdom on earth just as it is in heaven.  It signals a rapidly approaching end to the corruption, and fraud, and greed and lies-all the wickedness done under the sun today that turns some of our stomachs.

When we begin to see things the way our Lord sees things we will be encouraged.  He laughs at the wicked as He knows their day is coming.

Psalm 2:1Why do the nations conspirea
and the peoples plot in vain?
2The kings of the earth rise up
and the rulers band together
against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
3“Let us break their chains
and throw off their shackles.”
4The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.
5He rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
6“I have installed my king
on Zion, my holy mountain.”

This ^^ is what the Almighty has to say about the wicked we see all around us.  He has something altogether different to say about us:

Psalm 16:You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

This ^^ is what we have to look forward to.  Every single tick of the clock brings us closer to it.  Glory to God.

All glory and honor and power, all the wealth and splendor and worship and praise be unto the Lord our God who loves us and has saved us from the wrath to come.

grace and peace
