There are many many so called christians in the world today who believe the lie that "they made a decision" for christ one day, and forevermore they are "saved." Do these people KNOW GOD? What does the bible say?
<< 1 John 2 >>
3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: 6 the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.
What does "abide" mean? 1: to wait for : await2 a: to endure without yielding : withstand b: to bear patiently. TO ENDURE WITHOUT YIELDING, sounds like a one time decision to you?
We are the bride of Christ right? What does that mean? We are married to Christ. Let's put it in terms everyone can understand, when you get married on this earth, you have a wedding day, and on that day you "make a decision" to get married, you say "I do." Now let me ask you, is that one decision on that one day enough to make the relationship work for the rest of your life? NO, you have to commit DAILY to your marriage or its toast. Don't take my word for it, look at the divorce rate today, over 50% of marriages end in divorce. What? Divorce? But I thought they made a "decision" on the day they were married? Yea, and THEY CHANGED THEIR MIND LATER. You cannot find anything, ZERO, zip in the bible that says anything remotely close to the idea that the Lord in anyway impedes your freewill. What you will find is language throughout the bible that tells you the consequences for your freewill choices. Here's one of many examples:
You disown Christ, He disowns you:
2 Timothy 2:12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us
IF we endure, we will reign with Him. IF is a CONDITIONAL word. Those people who say "but we can't disown Him" are willfully ignorant and fools. The bible says that you absolutely CAN, AND the bible tells us what the consequences are for that.
Many many people today deceive themselves, they prefer to believe lies so they can take pleasure in unrighteousness. After all, it's so much more convenient to hang onto their closet sins, the unrighteousness they take pleasure in, when they assure themselves that they "made a decision" for Christ 15 years ago or whatever. How very unwise.....
It's bad enough when someone else deceives you, but to deceive yourself? Time is short brothers and sisters. Get right, and stay right with the Lord Jesus and our Father. We are committed to our bridgegroom Jesus, let us be watching and ready for His return. Pray for all the brothers, grace and peace
