Praise for the Lord

Psalm 106

Praise the Lord.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
2Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord
or fully declare his praise?
3Blessed are they who maintain justice,
who constantly do what is right.
4Remember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people,
come to my aid when you save them,
5that I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones,
that I may share in the joy of your nation
and join your inheritance in giving praise.

As each day goes by I become more convinced that we must learn to praise our God for all the things he has done, all the time. My own personal list of things to thank him for seems to grow by the day. Then there's all the things he has done for the brothers, for the world, for my family, I mean the list gets loooooong. What happens when a people learn to praise the God of creation day and night? What happens when a people has their mind fixed continually on God almighty and not the problems all around them on earth?

How can a person's faith not grow when they continually meditate in thanks on the many many things the Lord has done in answer to prayer and his word? A person's faith begins to grow to the point where they can move mountains when their mind is full to overflowing with the things our Lord has done, not the problems of the world. When the Lord parted the red sea for Israel, that was done for us just as much as it was done for them. We are all one in Christ now, there is no barrier of separation. What is done for us today is done for those who come after us. Should the Lord tarry, our testimony of our Lord's faithfulness will live long after us.

We must be a people who knows how to praise and glorify their God. We must have his praise always on in our minds and on our lips. Sure, we still have problems and troubles but we can bury them under a mountain of praise and thanks for what our God has already done. Soon with the passing of time the troubles your eyes and mind tell you that you have will become just another vapor, another fear not realized because the Lord came through for you again, which will in turn be one more thing to praise him for.

We must not forget the things he has done. People fall into the trap of forgetfulness. When things start going well, they forget the Lord, then their troubles start again. Stop the cycle of asking the Lord for help today then forgetting him tomorrow when he answers and things are going well for you again. Remember what our God has done, today and every day. Become a walking story book of our Lord's miracles. The Lord inhabits the praises of his people:

Psalm 22:3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

What trouble is it you have that God Almighty standing right next to you cannot smash out of your way? What adversity is it you face that God Almighty cannot make a distant memory and then a forgotten vapor? Learn to praise the Lord your God. If the Lord inhabits the praise of his people, and you are continually praising him, what does that mean? It means you are constantly in the presence of God Almighty, or another way of saying it is God Almighty is continually around you.

These are the things I believe the Spirit is saying today. Keep the faith. grace and peace
