Our Faith is a Shield

Eph 6:10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

We are told clearly here that our faith is a shield that protects us from ALL the flaming arrows of the evil one. Here we also see the importance of the word of God. It is an offensive weapon against the attacks of the evil one and not only that, it reaches out into the world to change it in the ways our God determined when he spoke the word. The word of God does what he sent it to do, every time...ALL the time so our mouths and minds and hearts should be full of it.

Last but not least of the points that stand out today:

pray in the Spirit.....
on ALL occasions....
with ALL kinds of prayers and requests....
keep on praying for all the saints....

All is a God word, he uses the word ALL...all the time. The word all is broad and far reaching, a fitting word to be used by the God who truly is God.

So what are we told to do? Armor up, sword out and PRAY with all kinds of prayers and requests, and last but not least, keep you praise and thanks to our God on your lips at all times. These are the things the Lord has been impressing me with for months now. Basics like pray, stay in the word, give thanks and praise to the one who is worthy of it: our God. That's it. These are simple things, but powerful things. We have recently looked at the power of "daily." Pray daily, read our bibles daily, give thanks and praise our God always.

There is no need for some manmade title or degree to understand these simple yet powerful truths. If we will humble ourselves to do these simple things we will see mountains move before our eyes. In order to do these things we need a childlike faith to believe. Those of us who believe like little children will see the Red Sea parted again, mountains moved, trees uprooted and cast into the sea and more. Our God cannot lie, he said we can do these things "if" we believe and do not doubt.

Lets commit ourselves to doing the simple things and lets do them daily. Let us return to a simple child-like faith in Jesus. Let us continue to remember each other in our prayers for our mutual benefit and in obedience to what is written. Pray because our God answers prayers TODAY, I am living proof of it. If we do these things we will not be ashamed on the day our master shows up for us and while he tarries we will see mountains moved on earth. grace and peace
