Will we get another mega-quake this spring as we have the past two years? Time will tell. The bigger question is what does it mean if we do? Earthquakes punctuate various places in the book of Revelation. Why will the Lord use earthquakes during the tribulation? Judgement, wrath and vengeance are obvious reasons, but they are an undeniable way of forcing men to take a hard look at their own mortality.
As I watched the aftermath of the tornado fest that swept many American states today I could see the effect on lives. One day life is business as usual then WHAM the next day everything is destroyed. Should we be giving our attention to the Lord right now? I think so.
On just about every front imaginable, this world has gone into terminal decline. What can we do about it? We can give our attention to the Creator so He can renew our minds and prepare us for what lies ahead. There are many different paths people follow today but only a few different ends. For example, in Noah's day, there were a few whose path was to be spared the flood, and there were the rest who were destroyed. Same thing with Lot. Lot and his family escaped Sodom, the rest were pulverized.
As it was in the days of Noah and Lot, so it will be again. There is an escape from all coming, that is biblical fact. Most people will not make it because they are neither watching for it nor are they ready for it. There are a few however, like Noah and Lot who are watching and ready and will escape all thats about to happen.
The people who tell us there is no escape from all in effect call Jesus a liar at worst and a misinformation agent at best. Why would the Lord command us to pray for an event that will never happen?
The earthquakes combined with volcano activity, animal deaths etc etc etc that we have mentioned in previous posts frames a picture for us today. That picture is a preview of what is coming to the earth. The time of wrath, judgement and vengeance is coming. We are seeing the beginning of it now, thus the Lord's Words "beginning of sorrows:"
Mark 13:8 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against ...
| ... and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows |
The Lord could come back for us today, anyone who argues differently I consider to be deceived or a deceiver. This brother writing to you today is committed with every fiber of his being to watching and being ready each and every day for the Master's return. I am not perfect but I am trying. Lord help me and help all of you who are "in Christ" today.
I do not want to be one of the foolish servants or foolish virgins who are shut outside the wedding because some man taught me that the Lord cannot come back today. How dreadful it will be for those people who believe a lie today and are left behind. If there is even a remote chance of escaping all thats about to happen shouldn't you give 100% effort to trying to make it out?
It makes no sense to me to do otherwise. If there was no pre-trib rapture, we would be ready for the mid-trib rapture. If there was no mid-trib rapture, we would be ready for the "pre-wrath" (misnomer) rapture. If there was no 'pre-wrath' rapture we would be ready for the post-trib rapture. If there was no post-trib rapture we would be ready for the second coming. Why? Because we are WATCHING AND READY DAILY for the Lord's return. None of the other rapture positions can boast this. We alone are living in obedience to the Lord's command to be ready for His return always. Does this perfect holiness in our lives? Yes. Does this line us up in obedience to the Lord's commands? Yes. And there is a long list of other details I dont have time to spell out today that makes this view the only view of the scripture that makes all the promises cohere.
We will find out soon enough that the Lord meant every Word He said and in most cases more literally than most people expect.
