Yesterday I wrote that the tribulation could be years away. I even gave some reasons why that could be the case. This morning I believe I was corrected on some of the reasons I gave.
1. Read this again:
They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
There is nothing in those words that give us any reason to believe those are 'prosperous' days. I asked the Lord, ok then, how about 'normal' days? Nope. What nails the description of the days above is pre-tribulation days. Yes, eating and drinking are normal activities, however people do those things even in abnormal days, so 'normal' does'nt fit. Prosperous does'nt fit, because people eat and drink to some extent even when they are poor, they get married when they are poor, so that's not it.
Take a look at the days we are living in. They are anything but normal. For most, they are not prosperous either. If these days are not normal, and they are not prosperous, what are they? These are pre-tribulation days, days exactly like the day when Jesus will be revealed to us. The day Jesus will be revealed could be today...be ready be watching
2. The beginning of the tribulation, the anti-christ has to enter into some kind of peace deal with Israel, how far in the future could that be? Not far. War could break out in this world any day now, after wars, peace accords are reached. When Israel goes to war, the wars don't last very long, so once again, we are back to 'any day now.'
3. Looking at the trend line for the economy and what still lies ahead of us, we cannot go another year, much less two years without some kind of divine intervention. It is here that one could argue we might have to wait. The Lord could tarry, he could pump enough life into this dying world to prop it up awhile longer, question is, will He?
Based on what I see around me, I have to believe that the rapture and tribulation are imminent, not years away. Years away, as I wrote yesterday, is a possibility, but only if God intervenes in a miraculous way. I think that He has allowed events to come this far for a reason. We have never seen a time like this. We have seen economic cycles like this, but we have not seen economic downturns like this combined with the apostasy of the church, combined with calls for a new world order, combined with the nation of Israel sitting over there in the middle east (Israel was not a nation in the middle east during the last great depression, remember?...prophesy fulfilled). Putting everything together makes a very compelling case for the world turning over on its head very very soon.
The tribulation sits directly in front of us, and we are running, not walking into its mouth. The speed of events these days is unlike any other time in history. One day like 9/11 changes things forever. What will the rapture of the church do to this world? How much fear and chaos do you think that event will cause? One day, in the blink of an eye this world will plunge into darkness. We are'nt talking years here, we're talking the blink of an eye, any day now.
The Spirit says to me, and has been saying to me, time is short. I cannot shake it away, I cannot reason it away, I cannot make a case that sticks against it. Time is short. These days are not like the days of our fathers, these are our days, these days are end of the world days. Very exciting stuff, not because of the bad things that will happen to the world, but because we will see Jesus in all His glory....soon.
I tried to make a case yesterday for why we might have awhile to wait, but this morning, I don't believe it. Perhaps we do have awhile to wait, but that's not the attitude we should take. Watching happens right now, today. Readiness happens right now, today. Not next year or the year after that. I cannot shake the sense of immediacy. Look around at the world, its falling apart. The pre-tribulation world that we see described in Luke 17 and Matt 24 is fading fast, that can only mean one thing...the escape will be soon.
